Meet Dr. Afiya Fredericks
Dr. Afiya Fredericks is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of the District of Columbia. Her research focuses on the impact of Growth Mindset and Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) on achievement and motivation. She also specializes in effective teaching of these concepts. With a background in Implicit Theories of Intelligence, she formerly worked at Mindset Works, co-founded by Dr. Carol Dweck. Dr. Fredericks is a proud US Virgin Islander, dedicated to promoting a growth mindset for navigating challenges and learning.
